It is out of question that the personality of Yuri Tkachenko is one of the most original and bright on the Russian musical Olympus of the 21st century. Cordial appreciation of the musician's concerts by audience, quiet professional discussion of his creative activity by colleagues confirming as follows: "The main feature of the musician is a strict and concerned attitude to the repertoire, his permanent urge towards perfection ..." - this is a definition of the main credo of Yuri Tkachenko, the conductor and musician. " ... While performing the music by Rakhmaninov the sonority of the orchestra conducted by Yuri Tkachenko at some moments reached the extreme poles: it melted sounding very tender with pianissimo of the strings, or became powerful accepting metallic sound in a loud tutti of the whole orchestra....", "The audience met him with great ovation and it was well deserved ..." - "Culture and Life" (Ukraine).
A devoted graduate of the Moscow School (Yuri Tkachenko has graduated the classes of B. Demchenko of the Russian Gnessins Academy of Music) in the beginning of the 90th he arrived at the understanding to correct his professional views giving more and more preferences to what is called "Petersburg's School of Conductors". It happened to the artist when he was upgrading his professional skills in the class of the famous I. Musin. The future maestro will call this period later "my mastery universities". This is where the individual style, the personality of the conductor and the musician originated from.
The main feature which distinguishes the Honoured Artist of Russia Yuri Tkachenko to-day is his perfect skill and amazing flexibility in using different, sometimes even polar stylistic devises. Consciously keeping himself away from genre preferences and partialities of taste, proceeding only from the clearness of the performed style and his attitude to it the conductor demonstrates the astonishing professional universality which opens in front of him really unlimited artistic horizons. The laconic drawings of classic scores, the free romantic style, the clear-cut graphic of large-scaleoratorio frescos, jewellery reproduction of refined records of orchestra landscapes , everything is conducted by his fairy baton.
There are musical compositions of Russian and foreign classic composers, works of composers of the XX and XX1 centuries in the repertoire portfolio of Yuri Tkachenko. The line of his fortune as of a conductor has multitude crossings of co-operation with the best Russian orchestras and soloists, such as the Honoured body of the Academic symphony orchestra of the Saint-Petersburg's academic Philharmonic Society named after Shostakovich headed by Yuri Temirkanov, the State academic bolshoi symphony orchestra named after Chaikovski headed by the Chief conductor V. I. Fedoseev, the Novosibirski academic symphony orchestra headed by A. Kats, pianists V. Ovchinnikov, and S. Tarasov, fiddlers V. Tretyakov and M. Fedotov, as well as other outstanding Russian and foreign creative persons.
In nearest years there are the plans to have joint concerts with National Symphony Orchestra (art director&chief conductor – V. Spivakov) at the stage of Moscow International Dom of Music. Y.Tkachenko will also go on his collaboration with Symphony Orchestras of Saint-Petersburg and Novosibirsk. In March of 2004 maestro like M.Fedotov (violin), N.Yerasova (mezzo soprano) etc. will be with guest tour in Japan. He and Russian Symphony Orchestra will take part in the final concerts of International Young Competition named after P.Tchaikovcky.
In the course of the last ten years Yuri Tkachenko has been working with the Russian symphony orchestra on a permanent base. This is the orchestra with whom the conductor usually goes on 10 CDs have been recorded with the participation of the conductor. |
